Sequential Rotation Feeding Microstrip Antenna Array of 2 x 2 for WLAN Applications

Sequential Rotation Feeding Microstrip Antenna Array of 2 x 2 for WLAN Applications

Nguyễn Ngọc Lan

In this work, the design of an antenna array utilizing a sequential rotation technique for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications at 5 GHz is presented. While the existence of a sequentially rotated feeding network generates circular polarization, a frequencyselective surface (FSS) is employed to enhance the antenna’s bandwidth. Utilizing RT5870 (εr = 2.33, h = 0.7874 mm, and tanδ = 0.0012) and RO4350B (εr = 3.66, h = 1.524 mm, and tanδ = 0.0037) substrates, the fnalized design achieves a compact size of 85 × 85 × 2.31 mm3. The simulated results show that at – 10 dB, the bandwidth percentage is 8% (4.8 – 5.2 GHz), a peak gain of 9.7 dBi and an efciency over 74% in the operating frequency band.
