Research on Implementing Istio Service Mesh for Managing Microservices
Nguyễn Thị Thu Hiên
In the process of moving from from a monolithic architecture to a microservices architecture, many difficulties are encountered in managing & communicating services and handling functions such as security, traffic control, resilience, monitoring, metrics and requirements. More requirements like A/B testing, canary releases, rate limiting, policy enforcement, access control, and end-to-end authentication become another burden. Service mesh allows applications to offload these capabilities from application-level libraries to a separate infrastructure layer and allows developers to focus on the business logic itself. Among today's service mesh technologies, Istio is considered one of the service mesh options because of its popularity, robustness and reliability. Therefore, our paper will focus on presenting the content of Istio's Mesh service implementation to manage microservices by demonstrating the features that Istio brings.
